Tellurian Heathcote Marsanne 2018

Share

Marsanne is one of those white grape varieties that is often forgotten thanks to its subtle personality. It is not bright and fruity like Sauvignon Blanc. It also does not have the powerful full-bodied flavours of Chardonnay. But what Marsanne does have is hidden corners of delicious, savoury flavour and it also does not mind a warm climate, as you find in Heathcote. It can also age well – some wines from Tahbilk and vineyards south of Lyon in France can drink well for decades.

This wine is youthful and has layers of flavour. There is lemon curd and pear fruits well matched with some generous spicy oak. It is then dry, and mid-weight but concentrated with tangy fruit and an almost creamy texture. There is also plenty of character and a lingering finish which make it a perfect match with roasted lemon chicken and veg.
