Here we have a single-vineyard, single-vintage King Valley Prosecco from 2023, and The Flying Winemaker team have done a stellar job. It’s a wine of freshness, definition and tension, with lovely bitterness and savoury notes adding interest. It opens with a burst of pear, green apple, green almond, white flowers and lemon zest, alongside a briny preserved lemon note. Bright and fresh, it delivers well-defined fruit and subtle savouriness. The palate shows a creamy bead and a tensile line of lemon before expanding into flavours of green apple, pear, citrus preserves and almond nuttiness. A saline acidity lifts and extends the finish, giving it lovely drive and tension. At $22, this punches well above its weight.
