McLaren Vale is a pioneering region for the Sangiovese variety in Australia, and here we have a reflection of a generation’s worth of viticultural and winemaking experience, and a true empathy for the best of this grape’s personality. 80% sourced from the northern Seaview district, the rest from Hedonist’s certified organic and biodynamic estate in the Willunga foothills. Floralled, sweet bakery spices with a bowl of mixed red berries, crushed for aromatics, juiced for flavour, energetic with an early-picked crunch and fruit-driven freshness, yet the main focus here is a textural, fine-chalk, powder-dry mouthfeel that offsets palate-brightening acidity – fruit, flavour, tannins, bite all in sync. A “now” wine that is relevant with everything a modern Australian diet offers up.
