The Other Wine Co. Arinto 2020

Share

A little bit of a confession first – this is my first arinto. The grape is grown in a number of regions in Portugal, including Vinho Verde. And like all Portuguese grapes, it is a little unusual. First there is the chalky, tangy acidity providing a tart edge. Then there is a distinct saltiness on the palate.

The wine has a pale and youthful colour with understated pear, citrus and waxy fruits in a bright and clean style. The wine is then dry and savoury on the palate with delicate tropical and floral fruits underscored by tangy acidity and that salty edge. It is undoubtedly made for early drinking but provides plenty more interest than your average dry white. Pair it up with a mixed seafood grill.
