Dewey Station The Venus Express Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2022

Share

69% Grenache, 28% Shiraz and 3% Mataro from Altona, Ebenezer and Tweedies Gully. Matured for 8 months in French oak of which 2.5% was new. Raspberries, strawberry compote and black fig. Morello cherries and pomegranate juice. A hint of balsamic glaze, dried sage leaf and allspice. This wine is about glorious fruit harnessed in its perfectly ripe life cycle. A celebration of Grenache with the allure of Shiraz and balance that comes with knowing how and why to blend these varieties together. Clove, cinnamon quill and brown earth comes forth with astute acidity that carries its flavour for a very decent amount of time supported by soft and sandy tannins. Bright fruit, vivacity and poise for under $30, that sounds like something I can really get onboard with. Drink now and will cellar for 3 -5 years. A wonderful wine to have with a Massaman curry.
