Tolpuddle Vineyard Pinot Noir 2025

To let great fruit be great in the glass, you have to let it sing. You have to give it its head and try not to interfere too much, but rather enhance its natural gift. There is such a lovely refinement to this Pinot, such verve and vibrancy and, in singing terms, perfect pitch. Brilliant, glistening purple hues. Aromas come lifted and aromatic in cherry, pomegranate, rose petal florals, dried herbs with a lingering raspberry fruit brightness. Displays a coiled energy throughout, a tension elevated by a seam of vibrant, crunchy acidity and smooth, fine tannins. Flavours roll across the tongue in concentrated fruits, earthy herbals, cola, tomato leaf, anise with resounding high tone spices in train. Runs long, sealing the impression of this wine’s overall beauty and grace.

Jeni Port is one of Australia’s top wine communicators. Based in Melbourne, Jeni created the first wine column in the (then) Sun News-Pictorial before moving over to The Age and becoming that paper’s longest-serving wine writer. Over the years she has written for most Australian wine magazines and these days calls WinePilot home. She is also a Tasting Panel member on the Halliday Wine Companion. She was named Wine Communicator of the Year and Legend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2014 and in 2018 Legend of the Vine. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
