Vandenberg Six Brothers Great Western Shiraz 2021

Share

A wine close to the heart of the maker, commemorating the story of the six Vandenberg brothers who fought in World War II. Miraculously, all lived and were able to return home to Australia. There’s plenty of bold ripeness on display here. Ups the usual medium-bodied Great Western style with a black hearted fruit intensity rich in blackberries, sweet, dark spices in clove, cinnamon and earth aromas. The palate builds deeper showing an almost syrupy, blackberry jam warmth enhanced by panforte notes and spice, offering some punchy tannin chew through to the finish. A wine of weight and presence in the glass, nicely lifted and energised by some ironstone-like mineral drive.
