Tapping into this Spanish origin red variety establishing itself in McLaren Vale, sourced here from Oliver’s Taranga Vineyard where it has been successfully championed. In winemaker Alan Varney’s styling it’s been harvested early, exuding an earthy and floral aromatic, pomegranate and cooked mushroom, with a more sour cherry like flavour appearing in the palate. Treads a fine line between fruit and savoury notes, gastronomically pleasing with its typically varietally minerally tannins standing up the wine to be joined by bold meaty tapas like eats.
