Sweet pops of raspberry coulis, musk, and red rose yield with time in the glass to woody spice, forest floor, red liquorice, and whispers of savoury jus. It’s pure in its red fruit and floral lift, though the savoury notes add a substratum of interest. The palate, however, is a little tart and dilute, not living up to the detail and presence of the aromas. Subtle red cherry, raspberry, red rose, nutmeg, and a tang of red apple skin fall within a frame of fine, chalky tannins and tangy acidity. The lack of stuffing reflects the challenges of the 2023 growing season. Such is the game.
