Warramunda Estate Yarra Valley Syrah 2019

The first thing to remember here is the youth of this wine and the fact that it is still very much in building mode. Which is pretty astonishing when you consider the score it has just attained.

Everything is there, in its place, a foundation for a wonderful future and although it is drinking very well, this is just a reminder to consider an alternative idea and put it down for a while.

Firm, fine-edged syrah (aka shiraz) brimming with plenty of Yarra Valley fruit sweetness and generosity in black and blue berries, stewed plum, cinnamon spice.  Brisk tannins provide that edge and there is a savoury thread running the length of the wine that is definitely eye-catching or rather puts the tastebuds on alert.
