Welland Wines Old Hands Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Share

Showcasing older vine material, lower yields and longer oak maturation here it’s around 40% new French oak for 18 months. Some intriguing blue fruit like Elderberries and Damson plums meet purple basil, menthol and wild mint bush. The astute Cabernet tannins rush across the palate and play nicely with the nutmeg, cinnamon and clove spice. It’s succulent and drinking very well now, it will show some more earth and brown spice elements with another 5-8 years cellaring but it’s in a pretty sweet spot right now. Think lamb pizza with garlic yoghurt mint sauce for dipping the crust.
