Windowrie Family Reserve Chardonnay 2022

Share

This is the Chardonnay in Windowrie’s portfolio that is for those that expect more typicity when opening a bottle of Chardonnay. There’s no shortage of toasty vanillin oak and cheesecloth, flinty reduction on the nose. It’s rather inviting, as the sweet florals and stone fruit notes hum underneath it all. Crushed cashew, preserved lemon and ripe nectarine on the palate, the acid is fresh but it is pulled into line with a little leesy, creamy textural interest and fruit weight. Battonage is evident in both texture and flavour, and really bumps this into the realm of enjoyable Friday night drinking. There’s a joyful and rather unexpected purity of fruit that lingers.
