Woods Crampton Phillip Patrick Eden Valley Shiraz 2018

This wine was included in a tasting with some highly-fancied South Australian Shiraz – household names – and it blew them out of the water. It is the epitome of what great Eden Valley Shiraz is all about, and shows a distinct similarity to Henshcke’s Mount Edelstone, although in a bigger and bolder style.

Right now it is wound up tight and only hints at what it has to give – spicy, meaty, dried sage and bay leaf scented fruits with touches of iron and granite all well integrated with classy oak. The palate is then dry and firm – with a fist full of dense and brooding, adolescent black fruits. There is also tannins, power and fruit length to burn that will make this wine a super drink in ten years when all those elements have come together.
