Wynns Coonawarra Black Label 2018

Share

It’s the 63rd vintage of Wynn’s Coonawarra Black label with hopefully plenty more to come. Unfortunately Coonawarra is not as fashionable as it used to be, which does, however, have a silver lining. This wine is still year in and out one of the best value wines in the country, and can in the top vintages improve in bottle for decades.

This a big, robust vintage of Black Label – a real bruiser. The aromas are classic piercing red and blackcurrant fruits with basil and mint fruit complexity. It then gets much more serious on the palate – firm and brooding with structural tannins matched by an acid twang, which the fruit currently sits behind. It’s big but balanced and needs a little time to settle.
