Yalumba The Virgilius Viognier 2020

Share

Yalumba began its journey with Viognier back in 1980 when there was only a tiny amount of this variety still in existence in France. Released with a little extra time in bottle, the distinctive aromas of ginger and apricots emerge immediately. It comes from seven different vineyards and spends 10 months in a mix of older barriques and puncheons. So the oak is there, but deliberately underplayed. I like the lower alcohol, which has contributed to its fresh and pure palate definition.
