Yangarra Estate Vineyard Noir 2019

The Yangarra Estate fruit salad red blend is the classic combination of grenache, mourvèdre and shiraz plus carignan, cinsault and counoise. For fans of bistro-style Côtes du Rhône, this wine will do nicely with both its generous fruity qualities plus savoury edges, although it also has some pretty, almost pinot noir-like aromatic lift.

It opens with plush, slightly lifted dark cherry fruits to which are added some bacon fat and baked earth plus layers of dried spice. It is flavoursome but also slightly rustic on the palate with sandy tannins contributing to a lingering finish. There is plenty of pleasure to be had here over the next two to three years.
