Yelland & Papps Limited Cuvée Barossa Grenache 2024

Share

Sourced from dry-grown bush vines planted in the 1930s at Marananga and tended by Bob Modra, this is de stemmed whole berries matured in older oak. This wine smells like walking beneath a magnificent wisteria arch. Delicate yet intoxicating, it’s perfumed with açai, boysenberry, and fig heart, with wild strawberries flickering through. Dried maple leaf meets soft tones of sandalwood and a dusting of cinnamon. The fruit is achingly ripe, balanced on the edge of sweetness, with acidity seamlessly woven into the fabric of the wine. Tannins are silty, fine, and quietly persuasive. This is a showstopper—impossible to put down. It captures the very second of fruit’s perfection, bottled. I’m in awe. Pair with fatty tuna belly nigiri and savour. Drink now, or cellar gracefully for another 4–6 years.
