Fruit is predominantly from Carr vineyard in Coldstream. Co-fermented with 35% Viognier. Matured in French barriques of which 14% were new for 17 months. Another slinky and super sexy vintage, this wine will seduce you with its mulberry and wild raspberries, some toffee apple and black olive. That titch of Viognier heightens the floral aromas but it’s deeply ingrained, no dried apricot bombs here. Some sumac spice and notes of rye seed. Tannins are silk like, spun with ethereally fine thread. A wondrous wine each and every year. This is Shiraz in red carpet attire. A lovely pairing for chicken cacciatore. Drink now or cellar for 3-4 years further but it will beckon you each time you visit your cellar.
