Zema Estate Shiraz 2021

Coonawarra Shiraz sits somewhat in the shadows of the region’s more famous Cabernet Sauvignon, but there’s much more to appreciate in this space once you dig a little deeper. In most cases there’s a genuine cooler climate sensibility to be revealed, vintage depending, of course. Here dark berries and cedary oak offer a traditional approach, a feel of just bitter dark chocolate in taste and tannins builds into the fuller bodied structures, the wine densely packed as all its elements have their say. Impressive for its balance after all that. Cries out for a charry barbecued rib eye.
