I knew I would like this wine the moment I opened it, as its delightful aromas started filling the room. Like the Serata, mulberry is the main character here, although here it’s joined by red cherry, wild strawberry, confectionery and cranberry, a touch of vanilla from the oak, plus some tertiary game and dried red fruits. There’s a heap of fruit sweetness on the palate and medium to high acidity, giving the wine heaps of vitality. There’s a touch of alcohol heat on the palate, but when paired with food, it’s barely noticeable. It’s obviously drinking really well now but I think in a few more years it will be even better.
