A modern take on McLaren Vale Shiraz boasting generosity but beautifully re-defined, highlighting elevated spice and a tightly knitted palate. Has typical Vale weight, but also impressive presence and structure. Extended aging potential is assured. Black cherries, plum, cassis, layers of lively spice in nutmeg, clove and cinnamon with aniseed. Ripe, well-rounded tannins add a savoury, earthy note, gathering prominence as the wine opens up. Brings a warm and inviting personality to the glass, highlighting black and red fruits and well-managed oak married to the most attractive spiciness.
Jeni Port is one of Australia’s top wine communicators. Based in Melbourne, Jeni created the first wine column in the (then) Sun News-Pictorial before moving over to The Age and becoming that paper’s longest-serving wine writer. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
