Aylesbury Estate QO5 Arneis 2024

Share

From the Ferguson Valley in Western Australia, this is a very fine local version of Arneis. Originally from Piedmont in northern Italy, the name, ‘Arneis’, apparently means ‘little rascal’, because it is a difficult variety to grow. It seems that the team here have overcome any such perceived problems. A yellow straw hue, the nose offers notes of stone fruits, citrus, melon, peaches and pears, along with nuts, hints of the tropical and just a flick of oak, well integrated. A well-crafted wine which is chock full of flavour. There is even the merest hint of a dusty road note. The wine has good acidity, a firm texture, focus and length. A really good Arneis for enjoying over the next two to five years.
