Basileus Barossa Valley Grenache 2020

Share

The Grenache revolution continues at full pace. The grape is being reimagined and revitalised, nowhere more than in the Barossa Valley. Here, we see a $23 little spice-fuelled beauty from the Angove stable ripping it up in style. How much Grenache fruit and spice can you fit in one bottle? Let’s see, the aroma alone brings forth plum, ripe red berried fruits, black cherry, cinnamon, aniseed and earth. It’s bright and sunny and inviting. A dusty touch of cacao and woody spice opens up the wine beautifully, nicely highlighting the ripe fruit. It’s a strong, focused Grenache for the price complimented by earthy tannins. Plenty of good drinking assured here hitting well above its price tag!
