Bellvale’s estate fruit comes from the southern sector of the Gippsland region, specifically Berry’s Creek in the Tarwin River Valley. It’s out of the way with no cellar door and barely any marketing, yet this wine is worth better notice as it’s cracking value Pinot Noir with distinctive varietal markers: brick dust, anise, nutmeg for starters with a bright cherry and red plum juiciness to the palate, those spices and a definite pepperiness adding flavour spikes above a keen baseline of tangy red berry acidity. Proper fun to drink and damn friendly at the table.
