Burton McMahon Syme on Yarra Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Share

This vineyard is planted on red soils in the Upper Yarra, east facing, with the MV6 clone. 160 dozen. Crimson/red. There is already some real complexity evident with this wine. We have notes of animal skins, fungal/truffly touches, some ferally undergrowth notes, red fruits, notably red cherries and some brambly earth tones. This is nicely balanced, with fresh, bright acidity. Fine, if ever-so-slightly grainy tannins plus good focus and length. Easy to see this wine still giving pleasure in a decade’s time.
