Blue Pyrenees Section One Shiraz 2018

Share

The Blue Pyrenees Section One Shiraz is typically a more elegant style of Victorian shiraz thanks to the cool Pyrenees climate. But 2018 has turned this wine on its head, in a good way. It has given more power and brute force creating a richer and riper style. It is not a massive wine, but certainly packs plenty of punch.

The wine is a deep ruby colour and has explosive youthful fruit pastille aromas underlaid by savoury earth and spice. Despite its obvious complexity, it still feels a little closed, as if it has plenty more to give. The palate is then laced with blackberry and black olive fruits plus toasted spice, with a taut and sinewy texture thanks to its significant tannins. It is a muscular example of Victorian shiraz with plenty of grunt that finishes with good balance suggesting good aging potential.
