Brand & Sons Night Owl Shiraz Malbec 2018

This is a slightly unusual combination with the Bordeaux malbec and Rhone shiraz striking up an odd friendship. Yet the thing works. Ripe perfumed fruit on the nose heralds the best quality of the combination from the start. Then, a little dark plum and some nice floral notes provide further interest as the wine starts to roll. The palate is smooth and supple with a nice oak and fruit balance supported by typically chalky tannins. Here is a wine that is generous and loaded with goodies to make for excellent current drinking, while providing the basis for medium term ageing.
