This is Semillon au naturel. Picked early, no additions, with an engaging, zesty simplicity to start, it will ever so slowly evolve, and change, and engage further with time. It’s what you might call a sleeper, except it’s pretty delicious as it is right now. Green apple scents, lemon zest, ginger and saline. Bright, zesty acidity is key to this wine, the result of an early picking. It’s brisk across the palate but not aggressive. Flavours are subtle, clean, appley and pear focused with gentle background herbals. before going long on the finish. I can imagine a meal with a glass and pan-fried fish – they are made for each other.
