Brown Brothers Patricia Shiraz 2021

The 20th release of Patricia Shiraz opens with the aromas of rose petals, long pressed between the pages of a special book. This is quickly joined by bright red cherries and the sweet/savoury tang of rhubarb. 18 months in 36% new French oak adds spicy nutmeg and comforting cedar. While bottle age offers the mineral  meatiness of a dry-aged charcuterie platter. With fruit from Henry, Heathcote and Bendigo, it’s no surprise that a delicate eucalyptus flavour winds around the dark berry palate. It’s also beautifully savoury – think volcanic rocks on the sun. Rounded tannins and a generous crack of mixed peppercorns linger on the finish.
