Byron and Harold The Partners Shiraz 2019

To be honest, I found it very hard to split the trio. Loved them all. Will this suffer middle child syndrome? It shouldn’t. An inky dark maroon in colour. Plush and yet concentrated, a fine line to dance but, when it works, the results are exciting. Cassis, chocolate, tobacco leaf notes, but especially those gorgeous black cherries – such an appealing nose with hints of well integrated oak. Coffee bean characters move to the fore on the palate and firm tannins make for a firmer finish than we saw with the 2017 – simply a matter for personal preference. Very good length, this is a wine with real potential.
