Cape Mentelle Shiraz 2017

Share

Generous and complex, I urge you to keep spinning and keep sniffing – there’s plenty to enjoy here.  Pristine dark fruits gleam in your mind’s eye along with Sichuan pepper, earl gray, cured pork fat.  There’s a leatheriness that makes me miss the  jacket I had as a student.  Time in a decanter will elicit the full spectrum of aromas. Tannin is dry and fruit spicy (vanilla, white pepper and nutmeg) but the juiciness of dark cherry and plum run up and down the sides of the palate like a skateboarder in a half pipe. There’s a freshness of acidity and a rich length reminiscent of the last sip of hot chocolate. A scintillating, stimulating shiraz.
