Carlei Green Vineyards Cardinia Ranges Pinot Gris 2019

Share

The Cardinia Ranges, in case you were wondering, are located nearby the Upper Beaconsfield winery owned by Sergio Carlei. Both the ranges and the winery are located in the Port Phillip Zone, just missing out on making the Yarra Valley geographical indication (GI) boundary, but Sergio Carlei sources grapes widely, including the Yarra Valley, so he is a multi-regional specialist. His pinot gris offers a slightly different interpretation to some, with crushed fruit bringing some time on skins followed by fermentation in stainless steel and French oak barrels. The result is a complex, textural progression embracing the grape’s apple and spice characters and amplifying them. Honeysuckle scents mix with bruised apple, cooked pear and baking spices.
