Castelli Estate Silver Series Chardonnay 2022

More specifically, this Chardy hails from Mt Barker and Albany (well, they say that Albany has more than its share of Great Whites, so don’t be surprised). A mix of native and cultured yeasts here followed by time in two to three-year-old French oak and stainless steel. The colour is a gleaming yellow. The wine is taut, intense and a little more closed than some at this stage. We have nutmeg, spices and vanilla with some ripe stonefruits showing good concentration and length. The team at Castelli suggest drinking over the next three years. I think they are underselling the wine and think it should drink well for at least four to six years.
