The MV – McLaren Vale – label offers an archetypal expression of grapes close to the Vale’s heart . . . like Shiraz. Warm and luxurious in aroma, it’s like walking the Coast to Vines Rail Trail into Willunga with the scent of the bush, bay leaf, acacia and undergrowth all around you in harmony with blackberry and black cherry fruits. It’s generous, like a Vale Shiraz should be, supple and yet well-structured thanks to a decidedly tannic presence and drive. It remains a wine of the land, approachable and, as always, big hearted. And it could easily take a few more years in the cellar if desired.

Jeni Port is one of Australia’s top wine communicators. Over the years she has written for most Australian wine magazines and these days calls WinePilot home. She is also a Tasting Panel member on the Halliday Wine Companion. She was named Wine Communicator of the Year and Legend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2014 and in 2018 Legend of the Vine. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
