A wine that at this early stage is all about structure and hidden promise. It keeps its cards close to its chest, which is not unusual in Tasmanian Cabernet Sauvignon, but something that is possibly more emphasised in cool, wet, slow-ripening vintages such as 2024. Keep this in mind and consider further cellaring as it slowly gathers itself together. A deep, dark, brooding kind of Cabernet, vibrant in black berries and fruits, leaf and herbals on the aroma. The palate is assertive, sturdy in tannin – it saw 18 months in oak – and leaves little doubt as to the variety with its classic cool climate mix of cassis, redcurrant, black berries, bramble, jalapeño, red pepper, leafy Aussie bush characters, hints of hazelnut oak and deep spice. A commanding tannin presence. Give it time.
