Opaque colour with a ruby rim. Old leather melds with blood plum, blackberry, camphor and pepper spice in a big aromatic hit straight off. This leaps out of the glass; vanilla extract and cinnamon spice emerge thereafter, alongside liquorice root, dark chocolate, menthol, and seared meat. The palate is full bodied, creamy, and bursting with flavour. Black plum, blackberry, vanilla, black pepper, cinnamon, leather and black liquorice are framed by a vein of chalky, bitter, cacao nib-laced tannins and firm acidity. There’s opulent fruit weight here, no doubt, but it’s tempered by fine, elegant tannins and lovely complexity.
