Church Road McDonald Series Chardonnay 2018

Share

Remember old fashioned Chardonnay – bold, rich, oaky and stacked full of flavour. Luckily there are still a handful of winemakers around the world happy to step back in time such as Church Road in New Zealand’s Hawke’s Bay.

This wine is delicious, it’s moreish and it delivers in every way with nectarine, citrus and floral fruits which are well-matched with generous oak and even some wild ferment complexity. That all continues in the mouth with a powerful and full-bodied style that is a freight train of flavour. There is nougat, praline, peat and cookie dough all wrapped up in a spicy, vanilla blanket of oak that is hard not to love. There is also some crisp acidity keeping it all in focus and it finishes with great length. This is one serious Chardonnay.
