Clandestine Vineyards Grenache 2018

I just absolutely loved how this wine is pitched for relatively early drinking although you don’t need to scratch too deep to see it’s also deadly serious. Fruit came from a Blewitt Springs vineyard planted back in 1923 and now a little bottle age has allowed it to settle. The fruit is concentrated and ranges from plum compote and cranberry through to spice and earth with touches of marmite and compost brewing. There is plenty going on for a grenache at such a young age. There is then real upfront impact on the palate showing flesh and fruit depth with wonderful purity, balance and length. A very serious grenache for a bargain price.
