Curtis Ancestor McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021

For me, this is the best Ancestor Shiraz from these guys I have yet encountered. In fairness, with the quality of the 2021 vintage, it probably should be. This is a cracking McLaren Vale Shiraz. Love it. The wine spent two years maturing in a mix of French and American oak. An opaque maroon colour, this offers a stunning nose – all mocha, chocolate, cassis, blackberries, smoked meats, soy, bergamot, cold tea and coffee beans. Utterly seamless, the wine has a cushiony texture, which I know many fans of wines from this region just adore. It is a wine of very good length throughout, right to those wonderfully silky tannins. Truly a quintessential McLaren Vale Shiraz from a great year. Enjoy for at least a decade.
