The 2022 Cavaliere shows some dark ground spices that lead to a core of blackberry fruit. Cracked peppercorn, clove and carob, cassis, blackberries on the vine and dark cherries. Some fig and dried prune, the wine is perky with lifted acidity, soft tannins and some poppy seed crunch. You’ll be surprised by the flavour palate that sits and stays in the middle of your tongue. A whiff of coffee and mocha linger on the finish. Drink now or cellar further for 3-5 years to intensify those dark spice characters. Perfect for charred sausage or baby back ribs.
