Made only in exceptional years of which 2023 was most definitely one over in the west (less so in parts of Eastern Australia). Carries more weight, breadth and depth than the Estate Chardonnay, the kind of stuff that makes for truly engaging drinking as well as further ageing. The perfume sits in the honeysuckle florals and citrus spectrum with lemon pith, grapefruit, biscuity oak spice. Gathers pace on the palate with a lemon butter and grilled nuts richness, but it remains nicely refined and juicy with a long, sleek texture. Stylish.

Over the years she has written for most Australian wine magazines and these days calls WinePilot home. She is also a Tasting Panel member on the Halliday Wine Companion. She was named Wine Communicator of the Year and Legend of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2014 and in 2018 Legend of the Vine. She is a founding board member of Australian Women In Wine and is the co-deputy chair of Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards and China’s Wine List of the Year Awards.
