Domaine Naturaliste Discovery Chardonnay 2021

There’s no mistaking that Gin Gin fruit on the nose. Grapefruit pith, flintiness, yellow nectarine, gentle white florals and preserved lemon abound with a lick of salinity whispering Margaret River. Again, a real clarity of fruit here, and no malo. This seems quite ripe for 2021 fruit at first. Generous on the palate and mouth-filling with ripe peach, preserved lemon, and grapefruit pith; the fruit hangs on a firm frame of acid and phenolics. Oak has been delicately handled – it’s evident, but matches the fruit intensity. Fruit weight is heavy on the front palate, swings around the mid-palate and tapers off towards the back. A great value mid-week chardonnay.
