Domaine Naturaliste Floris Chardonnay 2020

Share

I think I have been missing out. The wines from Bruce Dukes and Domaine Naturaliste are new to me and they all show not only a deep understanding of the Margaret River terroir but also have impressive appeal and detail. They are clearly one of the go to producers for bargain high quality Margaret River Chardonnay.

The 2020 Floris is a wine where oak is on the front foot. Bright medium straw in colour, the fruit in comparison is a little more reserved; oatmeal, citrus peel, and more classic nectarine aromas with good underlying subtlety. There is then an attractive brightness and fruit precision on the palate, again lots of subtle citrus and delicatessen complexity well supported by tangy acidity and again a solid shake of oak. It might be a little tight right now so a couple of years are probably required to see all the parts come together.
