Dominque Roger Chene Marchand Sancerre 2019

Chene Marchand is one of the most highly regarded vineyards in Sancerre with fruit jealously guarded from this hallowed hillside which just gets a little riper than much of the fruit around the village on flatter sites. The result are wines of rare power in Sancerre but still retaining exceptional subtlety.

Bright mid straw in colour, this is immediately generous and multilayered with highly complex aromas of guava, nettles, citrus and white flowers with a backbone of subtle, spicy oak. Dry with tangy acidity, it is a full-flavoured and generous style for the Loire with subtle nougat displaying some bottle age characters. With fine acidity, it feels close to its peak, especially matched up with roast Snapper and winter greens.
