El Toro Macho Utiel – Requena Reserva 2016

Looks to Spain’s indigenous red grapes, tempranillo and bobal, for its inspiration and personality. And there’s a lot of personality to enjoy. Densely packed with concentrated black cherry, plum, cigar box smokiness, spice, a light nuttiness all over an intense savoury core. The latter is quite a feature as it moves across the tongue in cedar and dried herbs with a penetrating sour cherry flavour which runs long. Not shy in the least, it definitely makes an impact in length, intensity and structure.
