Estadon La Vigne/La Roche Rosé Côtes de Provence 2025

Share

This is a serious Rosé. If you fall into the category who think that Rosé is simply a bit of frivolous pleasure, you may hesitate. It would be a mistake. If ever a wine proves that a Rosé  can be as serious as any red or white, this is it. In 2025, the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire appellation was officially recognised as a Cru. The vineyards are situated near the famous Montagne Sainte-Victoire, immortalised by Cézanne, and they benefit from the mystical Mistral winds. This is Provençal Rosé at its best. Under cork. A shimmering pale neon pink hue, this is elegant and refined yet with good focus and underlying power. The nose exhibits notes of strawberries, rose petals, lavender, a touch of pink grapefruit and fresh garden herbs. A line of juicy acidity runs from start to finish and the wine has excellent length and balance. A superb Rosé which will continue to give pleasure for at least the next four to six years.

Ken was born and bred in Brisbane, Queensland. He had a non-trendy, perfectly happy childhood, in a family convinced alcohol meant instant condemnation to Hades. But a break fishing on the Great Barrier Reef, and some good wine, started a serious obsession that eventually took over. It did not stop Ken being chastised later for drinking Pol champagne, disgusted he’d drink anything made by a Cambodian dictator. Now, Ken mostly writes on wine, champagne and spirits for various newspapers, magazines and books, but is perhaps best known for his work in The Courier Mail. He also has a little sideline writing on cigars, fishing, travel and food. When not writing, fly-fishing for trout in NZ or bonefish on the flats of Cuba, travelling or smoking cigars, he is no doubt following a variety of sporting teams – the occasionally glorious Queensland Reds rugby, the dysfunctional Washington Redskins, the dodgy Arsenal and especially revels in the world restored to its proper axis with the return of the Ashes to their rightful home.
