Five Vineyard Plenty Region Reserve Shiraz 2022

This is the Estate’s first Reserve Shiraz release. The fruit comes from the Plenty region in Victoria, specifically a block which sits at a higher altitude, which the team find gives more concentrated bunches. The wine spent a year and a half maturing in French oak, 20% of which was new. The winemaker is Rob Dolan, a highly regarded AFL footballer (many years ago) and a most respected winemaker with serious experience, especially in places like the Yarra Valley. A dark crimson/purple hue here, the nose offers notes of chocolate, dried herbs, aniseed, coffee beans, black cherries and blackberries, with an effortless touch of quality oak. The wine is quite refined with impeccable balance and finesse. There is a good line of acidity and excellent length which will provide pleasure for the next ten to fifteen years.
