Geoff Merrill G & W Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

This is a Coonawarra McLaren Vale blend from a very good season in these two regions. A mix of American and French oak hogsheads was used during the fermentation, and certainly that American component has some sweet suppleness into the nose and palate. But the chalky fine Coonawarra component really does provide that defining structure and length to give the wine purpose and poise. There’s a juiciness here which comes from that McLaren Vale component, and it all hangs together in perfect balance.
