Riposte The Scimitar Riesling 2023

Share

Tim Knappstein’s connections to the Clare Valley run deeply, this wine from a favoured vineyard to the east of Watervale where the soil is of terra rossa reverence. Riesling, of course, is Clare’s calling card, and Knappstein has been a formidable part of its story for many decades. The ’23 vintage was a tricky one in the region, so to deliver a pristine result such as this is to be admired. The wine has a familiar lemon over apple fragrance, a faint caramelised creaminess to its green Granny Smith apple flavours and underlying acidity. Easy enjoyment here for those tentative of the variety.
