Gioiello Estate Old House Merlot 2021

Share

Fruit is from the Yea Valley on the Goulburn River of Central Victoria with vines planted in 1987. This shows Merlot’s exotic side in the excellent vintage conditions. Sumac, persimmon and blood plums. Goji tea, salted cherry and sandalwood spice. There is vibrant fruit weight and natural acidity swings the wine into crunchy, succulent territory. Tannins are sandy, and uniform, providing good scope for a few years further. The plum and red fruit flavours stay for long moments with oak spice drifting in toward the finish. An enjoyable wine with stewed meats and robust root vegetables. Drink now or cellar for another 2-4 years further.
